Study Smarter has been a leading supplementary education provider since its founding in 1997. Our company is a small, local business based in Oakland, California. We specialize in individualized tutoring, whether it is in-home, in our office, or online through videoconferencing. Our goal is to help students discover and achieve their educational goals. To that end, we provide college standardized test prep, private school admissions test prep, help with academic subjects, and support with general study skills and organization. We also offer individualized college essay help as well as college counseling and consulting.
Ariel is the Director of College Counseling at Study Smarter. She graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Sociology and Spanish Language & Literature. She has worked on undergraduate admission teams at multiple universities. When she is not providing academic and strategic support to her students, Ariel enjoys hiking around San Francisco.
Mel is a graduate of Wellesley College and a former 9th grade English teacher. She provides support for the ACT, the independent school admission tests, college essay writing, study skills, executive functioning, and a variety of classes. In her free time, she writes songs about dinosaurs and creates stop motion science videos. You can always find her with a notebook in hand and rocks in her pockets!
Emily graduated from UC Berkeley. She started working for Study Smarter as an SAT and ACT. Now, Emily is Study Smarter’s Managing Director and helps advise and strategize with students and families about how to best help them with standardized tests and their academic performance. In her free time, she enjoys music, dance and yoga.
